I was first introduced to Melissa Mace and Holly Rose via Facebook, three years ago, when Melissa contacted me regarding a Fitness Vacation Exchange. She was interested in teaching Zumba in exchange for an all-inclusive resort vacation, so I simply accepted her friend request, gave her the information, and added her to the group page. But, like so many other wonderful people I have met through this program, Melissa and I began a friendship via Facebook Chat. I learned that Melissa not only had a passion for Zumba, but a passion for people, especially children. Reading back through Melissa’s posts today, she writes, “Making a difference for people matters to me,” and she certainly shows it in all the things that she does.
Last year, Melissa and Holly went to St. Martin on their first Fitness Vacation Exchange. They wanted it to be more than just a vacation, but a chance to help needy children in a foreign country. They did some research and found 3 orphanages on the island. Before their trip, they held a Master Class to raise funds for the children, and once in St. Martin, they visited all three orphanages, danced with the children and presented them with monetary donations to help fund the homes.
